The Chase Sapphire Reserve® is chock-full of valuable benefits, perks and credits — enough to offset its pricey $795 annual fee, assuming you can make use of them all.

Chase Sapphire Reserve Credit Card
NerdWallet rating

Chase Sapphire Reserve® benefits fall into three general categories: rewards points you earn by putting spending on the card, perks you receive for carrying the card, and "peace-of-mind" protections you get for being a cardholder.

Here's what you get with this card.

Points: Spending rewards

Rewards on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® come as Chase Ultimate Rewards® points, which offer a great deal of flexibility and a potentially high redemption value per point toward travel booked through Chase. (Learn more about Chase Ultimate Rewards® points.)

1. A big sign-up bonus

The issuer describes it this way: "Earn 100,000 bonus points + $500 Chase Travel℠ promo credit after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening."

2. Bonus rewards on travel and dining

You earn elevated rewards on travel and dining. Here’s a breakdown of the points you can earn:

  • 8 points per $1 on all travel booked through Chase.

  • 4 points per $1 on flights and hotel stays booked directly.

  • 3 points per $1 on dining worldwide.

  • 1 point per $1 on all other purchases.

3. The potential for a Points Boost

The value of Ultimate Rewards® points varies depending on how you redeem them. Chase Sapphire Reserve® cardholders can redeem points at a value of up to 2 cents apiece on select flights and hotel stays through the Points Boost option. Bookings that are eligible for Points Boost are found in the portal. Bookings not eligible for Points Boost are worth 1 cent per point when redeemed for travel through Chase.

4. Point transfers to airlines and hotels

You can transfer your points to about a dozen airline and hotel loyalty programs at a 1:1 ratio. Depending on the program and how you use the transferred points, you could squeeze out even more value:

Airlines

  • Aer Lingus (1:1 ratio).

  • Air Canada (1:1 ratio).

  • Air France-KLM (1:1 ratio).

  • British Airways (1:1 ratio).

  • Emirates (1:1 ratio).

  • Iberia (1:1 ratio).

  • JetBlue (1:1 ratio).

  • Singapore (1:1 ratio).

  • Southwest (1:1 ratio).

  • United (1:1 ratio).

  • Virgin Atlantic (1:1 ratio).

Hotels

  • Hyatt (1:1 ratio).

  • InterContinental Hotels Group (1:1 ratio).

  • Marriott (1:1 ratio).

Perks: Goodies for carrying the card

5. $300 a year in travel credit

If there's a single, signature Chase Sapphire Reserve® benefit, this is probably it. The card automatically reimburses you for $300 in travel expenses charged to the card each year. (However, purchases reimbursed with the credit do not earn 3X points.)

6. Up to $300 a year at Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables

Receive up to $150 in statement credits from January through June and the other $150 from July through December to dine at restaurants that are part of the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables program. This program secures reservations for cardholders at coveted restaurants in major cities where reservations are hard to score. Restaurants are limited by location, so unless you're traveling, your ZIP code may determine whether you can get in on this perk.

For a list of eligible restaurants, call the number on the back of your card or visit Open Table’s website.

7. Up to $300 in annual credit for tickets purchased on StubHub and viagogo

Receive up to $150 in statement credits from Jan. 1 through June 30 and the rest from July 1 through Dec. 31 for tickets purchased on StubHub.com and viagogo.com. Activation is required.

8. TSA PreCheck/Global Entry/NEXUS credit

Every four years, you're eligible for a credit for the application fee for NEXUS, TSA PreCheck or Global Entry, when you charge the fee to your card. TSA PreCheck gets you access to expedited airport security lines; Global Entry gives you the same access, plus quicker customs screening when entering the country. Learn more about TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.

9. Complimentary subscriptions to Apple TV+ and Apple Music

Get a free subscription to Apple TV+ and Apple music through June 22, 2027 (a value of $250 per year). You’ll have to link your Apple ID and activate subscriptions to use this benefit. If you already have a subscription, it will be automatically suspended.

10. Extra points and discounts on Lyft rides

Earn 5 points per $1 spent on Lyft rides through Sept. 30, 2027 — 4 bonus points on top of the 1 point per $1 you’d typically earn. Within that timeframe, you’ll also receive a credit of up to $120 annually (issued as up to $10 in monthly in-app credits) to use on Lyft rides.

11. DoorDash discounts

You’ll get a free DashPass membership for at least 12 months when you activate the benefit by Dec. 31, 2027. You'll also receive a credit of up to $25 per month to spend on DoorDash, which is issued as $5 monthly to spend on restaurant orders and $10 twice per month for groceries, retail orders and more.

12. No foreign transaction fees

Many credit cards slap a surcharge on all purchases made outside the U.S. — typically 3% of the purchase amount. Good travel cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® do not impose this fee. See NerdWallet's best no foreign transaction fee credit cards.

13. Airport lounge access

Chase Sapphire Reserve® benefits include the ability to enroll in Priority Pass Select at no cost. Membership gives you access to more than 1,000 lounges in over 500 cities worldwide. Note that Priority Pass Select lounges do not include those operated by the big U.S. carriers American, Delta and United. Learn how to maximize Priority Pass Select.

Cardholders also have access to Chase Sapphire Lounges. Although the network is still growing, you can find Chase lounges at airports in cities like Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego and Hong Kong.

14. Up to $500 annually for prepaid bookings made with The Edit

Get a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for two, a room upgrade (if available) and other perks when you book a stay with The Edit, Chase’s selected hotels and resorts. You'll also receive up to $250 in statement credits from January through June and the same amount from July through December. There’s a two-night minimum required to qualify for this benefit, and purchases that are eligible for this credit don’t earn points.

15. Get a customized travel itinerary

As a cardholder, you’re eligible to receive a customized itinerary for your next trip through Chase’s Reserve Travel Designers benefit. You’ll get to speak with an expert knowledgeable about your destination and discuss your preferences to collaborate on an itinerary that aligns with your travel style and goals. This service is valued at up to $300 and can get you access to new experiences like wildlife encounters, private charters and more. No travel agency fees are charged, but you are responsible for covering costs charged by travel service suppliers.

16. Complimentary IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite Status

As a cardholder, you’re eligible for complimentary IHG Platinum Elite status until Dec. 31, 2027. This benefit gets you bonus points through IHG’s loyalty program and other perks like reward night discounts, complimentary upgrades (if available), early check-in (if available) and more. To qualify, this benefit must be activated by linking your IHG One Rewards membership in the benefits section of your account on Chase’s website or the app.

17. Cardholder hotline

Don't mess around with general-purpose customer service phone trees. Chase Sapphire Reserve® customers get 24/7 access to a dedicated customer support line.

18. Access to unique, cardmember-only events

There are all sorts of ways to redeem Ultimate Rewards® Points from Chase, but some are exclusive to Chase Sapphire Reserve® customers. Those include certain Chase Experiences like exclusive dinners, curated trips, rare entertainment events and more. And though many require a paid ticket to attend, others are accessible simply by flashing your card.

19. Points and discounts at Peloton

Earn 10 points on eligible Peloton hardware and accessory purchases (up to 50,000 points). You can shop Peloton Bikes, Tread or Row and explore thousands of workouts. You’ll get up to $120 in annual statement credits toward a Peloton membership, including all-access membership, App One, App+, Guide or Strength+. You must activate this benefit to receive it.

🤓Nerdy Tip

If you spend $75,000 each calendar year, you can unlock additional benefits, including status and credits with leading travel and shopping brands. It’s not worth spending this amount unless you’ve already planned and budgeted for it. The benefits remain available for the remainder of the year in which they were earned, through the following calendar year.

Protections: Peace-of-mind benefits

Chase Sapphire Reserve® benefits include protections that kick in when you shop with your card and when you book travel with your card. Keep in mind that with some of these benefits, certain conditions and exclusions will apply. (For example, don't expect to be able to buy a Ferrari with your card, total it and then get reimbursed under the purchase protection benefit.)

Shopping protections

20. Purchase protection

When you buy something with your card, it's covered against theft or damage for up to 120 days, for up to $10,000 per item and $50,000 per year. Learn more about purchase protection.

21. Return protection

If you want to return something you've bought but the store won't take back, you might be able to get reimbursed through Chase. The coverage is good for 90 days after purchase, up to $500 per item and $1,000 per year. Learn more about return protection.

22. Extended warranty

This benefit adds an extra year onto manufacturers' warranties of three years or less. Learn more about extended warranty protections.

Travel protections

While many premium travel credit cards offer insurance of some kind, the travel insurance offered through the Chase Sapphire Reserve® is superior to its competitors.

23. Rental car coverage

Pay for an auto rental with your card and decline the rental agency's insurance coverage, and you're covered for up to $75,000 against collision or theft. Coverage is primary — meaning you don't have to involve your own insurance at all — and available both in the U.S. and abroad. Learn more about credit card rental car coverage.

24. Trip cancellation or interruption insurance

Get reimbursed for up to $10,000 per person and $20,000 per trip if you have to cancel or cut short your trip because of sickness, weather and other covered situations. Reimbursement applies only to prepaid, nonrefundable travel expenses.

25. Trip delay reimbursement

If your airline, train, bus or other ticketed travel experiences a delay that lasts more than six hours or requires an overnight stay, you're covered for unreimbursed expenses up to $500 per ticket.

26. Lost luggage reimbursement

This provides up to $3,000 of coverage per passenger if your checked or carry-on luggage is damaged or lost by the airline. It applies to the cardholder and immediate family members.

27. Baggage delay insurance

If your bags are delayed by over six hours, you’ll be reimbursed up to $100 a day for up to five days for essential purchases like toiletries and clothing. Terms apply and you’ll have to claim this benefit within a certain timeframe and provide required documents to qualify.

28. Medical emergencies during travel

If you or an immediate family member get sick or injured while traveling 100 miles or more from home and need an emergency evacuation, you can be covered for up to $100,000 for medical services and transportation.
